What to Do About a Bad History
By Kondwani Nyangulu
Every now and then you may find that you have a bad credit history. While that is not the best news you want to hear, the good news is that it does not have to stay that way. Here are some things that you can do about your bad credit history.
Start Repair Immediately
If you were not aware that you had a bad credit history, then you will certainly want to get a copy of your credit report and look it over. It is quite possible that an entry was made by mistake, and a remedy may be just getting a simple correction.
Consolidate Your Bills
Finding a bigger problem, however, like having a lack of income for some reason, or a change in your income levels can also have similar effects. By seeking to consolidate your bills either onto a 0% APR interest credit card, or just getting a consolidation loan may give you the time you need to get back on your feet.
Talk to your lending agency, or get a relative to cosign for you, and getting a bill consolidation loan. This will give you some flexibility and should allow you to have lower payments - and lower interest rates. Do not include bills that have lower interest rates than what the new loan will give you. Be very careful to keep your payments on time, since this will enable you to rebuild your credit and recover from a bad credit history.
Get A Secured Credit Card
A number of credit cards are available for people with a bad credit history. These cards are often secured credit cards, which requires you to deposit money into an account equal to the credit line of the card. With time, though, and by making your payments on time, you can remove your bad credit history and get back to a good credit rating.
